Color Innovation for Health...Best for the Thai People

TOA Color World Colorants (LV) is the latest innovation by TOA, focusing on consumer and environment safety.

The innovation helps reduce the amount of volatile organic compound (VOC) to a minimum, and it is free from alkypheol ethoxylates (APEO), the hazardous substance. In addition, durable color powder is chosen to improve surface protection and to make beauty last longer while high concentration of primary colors remains the same.

What are VOC and APEO? How dangerous are they?

VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compound meaning an organic compound that can evaporate or vaporize easily by having a boiling point of not over 250°C under normal pressure. (Testing Standard of ISO 11890-1/11890-2). For the hazards of VOC, VOC in the air is hazardous to skin, or it enters the body, mostly by breathing or being absorbed into respiratory mucosa, causing dry throat, nausea, vomit, kidney deterioration and cancer.

APEO stands for Alkylphenol Ethoxylates , and it is in the same group of the organic compound by having a boiling point of about 295°C. However, it is not in the same group as VOC, as its boiling point is over 250°C. For the hazards of APEO, APEO is toxic to aquatic living things and classified by OSHA as a carcinogenic agent. Also, OSHA considers that the high amount of this substance may lead to mutation, genetic disorders, genotoxicity and toxic nervous system and allergy.

TOA Color World Colorants (LV)

The new innovation helps reduce the amount of VOC used, and it is free from APEO.

For health and environmental awareness, TOA has developed TOA Color World Colorants (LV) minimizing the use of VOC for 4 times compared to the previous use. The amount is significantly minimal and hardly affects health and environment. Additionally, the VOC is free from APEO and other hazardous substances, such as formaldehyde, mercury, lead, cadmium, chromium, other volatile matters, etc. as shown in the table of the laboratory test results of the PSB standard of Singapore.

The table shows the calculation results of hazardous substances after color tones are mixed by TOA Color World Colorants (LV).

Remarks:

1. Refer to the document of all test results of PSB Singapore No. 719175291-CHM10-01-CSY to No. 719175291-CHM10-17-CSY.

2. The VOC content is calculated from color tones mixed by machine and by using the formula with the maximum number of colorants in Base A.

3. The green label of semi-gloss/gloss emulsion paints requires that VOC be ≤ 100g/Lm, and the VOC matte color must be ≤ 40g/L.

4. OSHA stands for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, an agency monitoring safety and health at work.
